There are so many things I love about the circle. One of them is how much I have learned in the past two years.
I created this card and used so many different 'techniques to embellish is...
The edging is 'sew easy with rhinestones, the background is a stenciled 'cricut' wording cut from everyday cricut and then using the stencil I inked the word in gold, and white and green.
The 'c' has been glittered and then covered with glossy accents. The 'e' is glittered with stickles. The 'a' is embossed with stripes and inked and edged with stickles.. and the last 'e' was embossed with dots and then the dots were covered with lime green tulip fabric paint. i edged some of the letters with a black marker to give them more of a shadow. and attached the card front to the white card base with brads.....
I received the most wonderful gift from my super talented friend Nadia Herbst-McConnell (With Glittering Eyes- to anyone who doesn't know her!)
In honor of our newest family member- Casey......
i think I will let the photos speak for themselves.... but let me say not only was I thrilled; but Casey & Clancy are now huge fans of Nadia & the McConnell Family!!!
I can never thank Nadia enough. Her gifts are always so special and thoughtful, and every time she touches paper; it turns into a work of art!
I love that we can enter this one as many times as we want!!! Heres the first project I did. The bees body is part of a rosette; I glued i really well in the back and then cut it to the shape I wanted...
In honor of National Craft Month, I decided to create a box dedicted to some of my favorite crafters and craft companies...
The box is Tim Holtz configurations, some of the paper is Graphic 45,. There's Imaginisce bling, a teeny tiny paper bag book dedicated to Kathy Orta & Paper Phenomenon. And it has a little black dog (for Clancy) and a hammer (for Marty) The fairy is in Honor of my friend Nadia Herbst McConnell (With Glittering eyes). The cricket on top of the suitcase with a stack of paper is for all the great ladies I have met at Circle crops. Theres a box dedicated to holidays; since I love to craft Holiday Decor.
Then theres a box with a child reading and a pirate and a witch; which represents me; my LOVE of all things written and my imagination which allowed me to create
a pirate project and the witch is for Admin Becky (who I still miss)
The mermaid is for my love of creating anything nautical and with seashells. The flowers... how many flowers have I created just this month... too many to count...
And finally the rosette with the tiger was an extra from when I created my paper carousel.
There are loads of CRICUT cuts, because you KNOW I adore my machines and cartridges. The mermaid, pirate,
witch and little girl are from Imagine carts. The little bike is from Independance Day, the flowers are Mothers Day, & Flower Shoppe. The fairy is Designers Calendar. The Rosette is from Ribbons and Rosettes. And most of the holiday images are cricut as well; can you tell I love the search button!!!!
The whole thing is 6"x 9" so each individual box is about 1.5 x 3, a challange for me because I never work this tiny! I hope you enjoy this glipse into my mind!!
I cannot wait until Summertime!!!! Spring is Party season here in NY and I am burning the candle at both ends.... But I am watching Tim's classes and trying a steal a few moments each day to try some of the fab techniques!!
Today was embossing, and I do LOVE this....
The violet on the hydranga is from Ranger and wow does it POP!!!
The bubble background and the seahorse are both embossed, and I understand what Tim was saying about how you don't really know the color the powder will turn out until you use it. I will have to make a swatch book for mysel
Between yesterday and today, I was beginning to feel overwhelmed and under-supplied. I am mixing all of the techniques up in my head and getting stressed because I am getting a lot of Messes and I am not used to that!
However I am happy to say I feel better, & have had my pockets emptied by our LSS, and will be ready to go Monday.
Above are the tags/samples/messes! I actually think time & deciding what to do with them will make me happier!
I do love the techniques, but I think I need to practice a lot more!

Tim has been an amazing teacher already and its only Day 2.
We are learning, not only the techniques Tim loves; but also about what different 'types' of products are about.
I.E.- things like dyes vs. pigments

Todays Techniques were Alcohol Ink Agate, Archival Resist & Reflections stamping!!! Holy Cow!!! I could play forever!!! These techniques are way too much fun and so beautiful!
Marty is complaining that I am getting him fat....
Now I am not sure how that can possibly be my fault.....but I did make him a Superbowl Cake and some Valentines cupcakes...
The Queen of Hearts (disney classics cart) was mostly an exercise to see how difficult a figure would be cut in fondant. She was pretty quick and easy, I am happy to say!!
The superbowl trophy cake was for our Superbowl party and because I couldn't decide chocolate or vanilla, so the "football'' up top is chocolate cake and the field is vanilla, (the grass is green dyed coconut) and the details were all cut with the Cake. The center silver stand is about 12" high and is just a box made of foamboard and covered in aluminum foil. I should also tell you the football cake was baked using the Wilton football shaped pan. Our guests were shocked when I started cutting it up, they thought it was just a decoration!
My 'unofficial' New Years Resolution is to use the three machines that have been sitting in their boxes...

Now I had taken it out of the box and cut a few things with it, but no matter how many utube videos I watched; I still couldn't 'get it'. Some people reccommend putting the mats in the freezer and mine sure don't fit...
It was frustrating; so I decided to take the Wilton
gumpaste & Fondant (Course 3) at my Michaels...
Which turned out to be a huge blessing because I have made three new friends and two have Cake machines
(Which they also dont use!)
So we got together (twice so far) and have that Cake Machine cutting away!!
These are my very first gumpaste/fondant cakes...
The FLORAL one are the flowers I learned to make
in class...
The MERMAID and seashell is for circle sister Sandy Oliveto; who is having a little cocktail party tommorrow
(She LOVES seashells and I know she will love this cake)
And Happy Birthday AJ - Mario is all done with CCR and
the Cake machine; It's a bit of a rush because I only had about 2 hours to design, cut, and put it together... but I'm pretty sure my nephew will like it...
Everything (including seashells) is gumpaste and or fondant. And I have to give a huge shout out and THANK YOU to my instructor and new friend Terri Newman!
Not so very long ago, I didn't know anything about papercrafting, let alone who the heck Tim Holtz is...
And then, I couldn't understand the fascination with 'vintage' stuff; probably because i own & continue to collect loads of 'vintage' stuff. However the design, look,
feel and texture of Tim Holtz's creations, products and techniques grew and grew and now I am a huge fan!
I LOVED his opening blog post about how the tags aren't necesarily meant to be copied, but to be inspirational and I went with that....
I only managed to get 9 done, and from the start, I knew they would become a mini book. Most of them took hours;
I am not an expert at any of Tim's techniques; but they were a fabulous learning experience and I am very happy with them...
So Thank you Tim.....
